One Button Radio - Troubleshooting Battery Issues

This article refers to our  One Button Radio

There is a current known issue with some of these radios, which has the following symptoms;

  • This problem only occurs when batteries are used in the radio
  • The USB light flashes on/off and/or the radio only plays intermittently or not at all

What causes this?

Although we are not 100% certain on the exact cause at this moment in time, this issue has been fixed so far in all radios by replacing the batteries with brand new batteries that are a specific type. Consequently the cause has been narrowed down to either batteries with low power, the wrong type of batteries being used, or batteries being loose/incorrectly installed.

Confirming/testing the issue (optional)

To confirm that this problem is the batteries in the radio, you can remove the batteries from the radio completely and use the mains power adapter that is supplied with the radio. This should fix the issue immediately.

Please note: you must remove the batteries completely from the radio to confirm the batteries are the issue. You can still sometimes experience this problem if you leave the batteries in the radio and use the mains power adapter at the same time.

Fixing the Problem - Battery Checklist

Please ensure your batteries are as follows;

  1. Brand new 'C' type batteries
  2. All batteries are same brand/type
  3. Alkaline 1.5V (not all C batteries are alkaline)

Please see an image below of an example battery type for this product, although your batteries do not need to match the battery below it may be useful to see an example.
