General Advice when using the Automatic Code Search
Partial code match: Some devices share partial code sets with other devices, so it is possible that a code will be found that turns the device on/off but not all functions work, or the device may turn off but not turn back on.
If this happens, repeat the code search until the correct code controls all of your device’s functions. You may need to turn your device back on using your existing remote control.
Advice for Set-Top Boxes
When using the automatic code search for programming set-top boxes, such as Freeview, there are a few differences to be aware of.
- 1
- At the beginning of the programming remember to press and hold the STB button (and not the TV button)
- 2
- When trying to find a code remember you are looking for the STB to turn off and not the TV. If the TV turns off but the STB remains powered on then use your existing TV remote control to turn the TV back on and continue looking for codes.
- 3
- If you're unsure of what happens when your STB turns off but your TV remains on then you can test this before trying the automatic code search by using your existing STB remote control to power off the STB
