Doro 319 Troubleshooting - Losing saved photo-buttons

What happens?

Some of our customers have experienced an issue with our  Doro Amplified Photo Button Telephone where the photo-button memory buttons lose their stored numbers and have to be reprogrammed. This can happen on a semi-regular basis.

What causes this?
  • Abnormal surges in the telephone line power (not normally noticeable or easily detectable)
  • Complete power failures/cuts to telephone lines

Some telephone lines/houses appear to be prone to abnormal power surges, therefore this particular model may not be suitable for those customers.

Why does this happen with the Doro 319?

The Doro 319 seems more susceptible to power line surges for the following reasons;

  • No flash memory (this means any interruption to power, even if small, will wipe the photo-button memory)
  • Power is only supplied through the telephone line and not by mains power
  • The Doro 319 seems to be more susceptible to power surges in telephone lines, we're not sure on the reason why but our technical team have hazarded a guess that it's due to the extra power required for the amplified functions
Does this happen to other telephones?

No; all other landline telephones that we sell have a combination of flash-memory, mains power supply, or simply do not experience the above issue.

Can this be fixed?

Not that we're aware of. Previously we attempted to fix this issue by supplying customers with replacement telephones however they continue to experience the same problem.

Telephones returned by customers have also been tested and have worked perfectly in our office, meaning that this is caused by a combination of both the telephone's design and specific telephone lines.

What's the recommended solution?

The only solution that we have found for customers who experience this issue is for an alternative telephone to be used.
